smart-ICE 4 Family

Three months ago I reviewed the app EMS alert which is now known as Smart-ICE. It was designed by an EMS director with years of experience and it shows in the app. The app is designed to store all of your “in case of emergency” information on your iPhone. Now comes smart-ICE4family. The concept is the same but this app lets you store information for up to five family members.

You can enter in oodles of details in the following areas:

-Personal information: height, weight, hair color, religion, etc.

-Current medical issues: problems, medications, allergies

-Medical devices and deficits of family members

-Medical histories: including problems, surgery, immunizations and hospitalizations

-Emergency Contacts

-Expressed wishes and preferred hospitals.

smartICE-4family has an alert function that will sound an audible alert every two minutes after you dial 911 from the app. This would allow emergency responders to find you if you’re unable to call for help. You can also create a custom ICE message on your wallpaper if your phone locks with a passcode.

There have been a few issues with saving immunizations and medical devices. I’ve been told that an update has been submitted and the issues will be corrected. Metric measurements will also be added. The app (and the story behind it) have also been featured on www.emsresponders.com

My thoughts about the original smart-ICE app are that it’s one you never want to have to use but if you are in an emergency you’ll be very glad to have it on your iPhone. As a mom it’s a relief to know my family information is accessible if I’m ever in a situation where I can’t pass it on myself.

WebMD Baby

WebMD Baby was released earlier this month and it is awesome! Seriously one of the best “baby” apps I’ve seen to date

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
