Smart Run Review

I am always on the lookout for great educational apps for my 4-year old son. We do preschool at home and I need fresh, ideas to keep the learning fun. I have definitely found a keeper in Smart Run. My son is a huge fan of those “running” apps like Temple Run and Survival Run and this app combines the “running” part of those apps with a little bit of learning and that gets two big thumbs up from this mama!

The premise of this game is very simple. As your “runner” runs up and down the path, visual clues appear in the sky above his head. When he gets to the top of a hill, a gap appears with three other paths on the other side. One path has the correct answer to the “clue” that was given and the other 2 are incorrect. For example, you might see a splatter of pink paint in the sky and the paths are labeled, “Black”, “Red”, and “Pink”. You must jump your runner to the correct path to gain points. Correct choices give you 10 points and incorrect choices deduct 5 points. If your player falls off the path, the game is over and you must start again. Your goal is to earn as many points as possible. The more correct answers you get, the more speed your runner gains making it more challenging to make it to the correct path. You can also go into the settings and customize the topics so that only clues from those subjects are given in the game.

This app has very quickly become a favorite in our household. It is fun, fast-paced, challenging and filled with learning. I really love the fact that I can customize the topics so that I can make it challenging for both my preschooler and my 1st grader. The topics that are covered range from Animals to Tools, Math to Reading. You can also purchase additional topics such as Geography, Arithmetic, and Alphabet in-app to keep the game fresh and challenging. Smart Run is an app that will definitely keep your kids entertained and educated.
