Smart Tot Rattle & Giveaway

September 7, 2011

I don’t often receive apps for babies but Smart Tot Rattle is for the very young. The app has high contrast images with bold colors and simple shapes. There are four themes, each with a black and white patterned background. In front of this background brightly colored shapes and objects will be moving across the screen as you or your child shake your device or taps on the screen. The app also makes pleasant noises when the shapes hit each other. Smart Tot Rattle will automatically cycle through each of these themes. In the settings you can determine how often you’d like this change to occur.

I found the app to be a pleasant and age appropriate app for infants. It makes good use of the contrasting colors and it didn’t feel like it was overstimulating. My baby has grown up so I couldn’t run the app through a real world test but I think Miss J would have responded to the movements and sounds when she was younger. So much so that I would have needed to worry about her drooling all over my phone, always a concern with a baby app!

I have one promo code to give away for Smart Tot Rattle. If you’d like to win the app for your own baby (under a year old) then please leave me a comment below. I’ll be randomly selecting a winner on Saturday evening.

Chalk Walk

Chalk Walk is a very unique iPad app. It has been developed to help your children improve the pincer grip they use to hold a pencil.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
