The Smilebox app lets you jazz up moments captured on your iPhone camera. You take a picture and can immediately personalize it with a caption, frame or sticker. The app comes with several different design sets to choose from. Of course, if you’d rather not add anything extra you can keep your photo exactly as is. After making your additions (or not) it’s time to share your photo. Sharing can be done via email, text or Facebook. When friends and family get the photo they have a chance to “rate” it with an emoticon. They can also leave a comment on the photo and you’ll get push notifications when these show up. It’s a fun way to get a dialogue going back and forth.
Smilbox keeps a chronological record of the moments you capture, like a photo journal. The app will also email you a wrap-up each day. I found it to be a quick way to send a fun little picture to friends and family.
I also had a chance to try out the computer version of Smilebox. That’s a pretty nifty product all on it’s own. It allows you to create everything from scrapbooks to calendars to newsletters. I easily made slideshows for Grandparents Day the other night with no time at all. I imported photos, added them in, chose music and emailed the slideshows. Super simple. The software is continually updated with products and templates so you’re constantly getting new inspiration. You can learn more about this product at smilebox.com.
Smilebox offers a large variety of resources for turning photos into something special, whether that’s on your iPhone or your computer. I’m always looking for a way to use my photos in new ways (but take less time doing it) so for me their products are a great fit.
