Sparkz

Sparkz is currently my son’s favorite iPhone game and quickly becoming one of my favorites too. It’s one of those simple concepts that’s executed well and will totally suck you in. The design of the game is reminiscent (that’s a big word for a tired mom) of classic arcade games.  You begin in an arena (a solid colored rectangle covering the screen) and you control a diamond shape, the Stix, by dragging your finger around the screen or tilting your iPhone. As you move your finger a line is drawn on the screen.  When the line connects with a side of the rectangle the arena that’s inside that shape disappears, revealing part of a nature picture. You continue doing this until you’ve gotten rid of the entire arena/rectangle. BUT while you are chipping away at the area there is a twirling set of lines called the Squix that’s moving around. If your Stix runs into it the Squix then your turn is over. It’s trickier then it sounds and you’ve got to consider the timing and location of your lines. As you progress through the fifty the levels progress there are additional challenges that appear to make the game more difficult.

Since Sparkz has been on my iPhone it’s become my son’s go-to game and I’ve found it extremely addicting as well. Well done Sparkz.

WebMD Baby

WebMD Baby was released earlier this month and it is awesome! Seriously one of the best “baby” apps I’ve seen to date

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
