SUPER WHY Alpha Boost!

November 29, 2011

My household loves PBS KIDS, so we were very excited to play the new SUPER WHY Alpha Boost! app. In Alpha Boost your little one can play as one of the four main SUPER WHY characters: Super Why, Princess Presto, Wonder Red, and Alpha Pig. Four different party scenarios set the backdrop for the Super Readers to gather letters for party-themed words. Before they play your child will need to first select which character they want to play as, next they will need to pick their party scene, and finally their Super Reader will blast off into the sky and the game begins. To play tilt the iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad left and right to catch letters floating in the clouds, pop balloons, and get a power boost to go even higher in the sky. Once all of the letters have been collected, the super party password is solved and the party can begin.

Your little one will feel like they are part of the Super Reader team when they play this app. The graphics and sounds are exactly as they are on the show and children get to actively help in solving the mystery word. My three year old daughter has a blast when she recognizes and collects each new super letter. With over one hundred party passwords, I found myself playing along with my toddler and trying to guess what the word could be. While the game play may seem a bit repetitive, the wide selection of party words will keep your little one searching for letters to build new words.

Chalk Walk

Chalk Walk is a very unique iPad app. It has been developed to help your children improve the pincer grip they use to hold a pencil.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
