Crazy! That is what SwipeTapTap is. Crazy good, crazy simple and simply driving me crazy. The game’s premise is simple, a twist on Simon Says. Follow nine different symbols on the screen and tap or swipe in the direction they say. Nine symbols for nine gestures. Never underestimate a simple premise when it’s well executed. The game has four game modes, here’s a rundown on each one.
- Classic - In Classic mode the a line of symbols will scroll across the screen and you tap or swipe as quickly as you can, without making a mistake. If you make a mistake you’re done. If the symbols scroll to the end of the screen before you reach the end of the line you’re done. As you pass the levels the gestures you’re making on the screen will become more complicated.
- Memory - It’s Simon Says! A symbol will flash on the screen and you’d better be watching so you can make the correct gesture on the screen. Then the symbol will be repeated followed by another and it’s your turn to repeat the sequence. And so on as sequences become longer and more complicated.
- Speed - Here you’ll give yourself a challenge by picking a time and then seeing how many correct moves you can make before your time runs out.
- Endurance - As long as you keep going this mode will too but it will kick things up a notch with more difficult moves and an increase in speed. I haven’t been brave enough to try this level out yet. Don’t know if I ever will.
I definitely suggest taking the tutorial that pops up the first time you play SwipeTapTap. It walks you through all the moves and provides plenty of hands on practice so you can get the hang of how to play. You can listen to your own iPod music while you play the game and it integrates with Facebook in case you’d like to let your friends know how awesome your swiping and tapping has become.
This is a terrific game that’s simple to learn but hooks you and keeps you coming back trying to beat that level just “one more time!” Definitely a keeper on my phone.
