Llama Llama Red Pajama

Other reviews of this app had complaints about the page turn button not working properly; I did not experience any problem of this sort, but did notice that the app requires iOS 5.0 or higher to work properly. I was very impressed by the Spanish feature of this app; it not only changes the written words to Spanish, but if you have the Read to Me feature turned on, it also changes the narration.

My First Phone

My First Phone turns your iPhone into a toy phone and it’s one of my favorite types of toddler apps. Cute animated graphics, nothing too complicated, plenty of buttons to tap, and fun sounds to hear.

Sweet Baby

Does this sound familiar? I have completed baby books and first year scrapbooks for my first two children. My third child has a first year scrapbook. And my fourth child…let’s just say I’ve got some catching up to do before she’s old enough to realize how deprived she is. We do have photographs, plenty of [...]

BubCap

Does this sound like something that might happen at your house? Your toddler is begging for a turn with your iPad, or iPod Touch oriPhone. In my house that would be my Miss J asking for a turn with Elmo’s Monster Maker on the iPad. “Melmo, Melmo” – over and over again. If it’s a [...]

“Where Am I?” Apps from Jolly Giraffe

The “Where Am I?” apps from Jolly Giraffe have been designed to help young children learn the names of objects around them. There are currently six apps in the series and they each focus on a different location including at home, in the city, on the farm, at the park and at the zoo. There [...]

The Toilet Monster

Toilet training is something I’m going to have to eventually face with my Miss J. Can you tell this is my fourth time to this rodeo? I know exactly what I’m coming up against and I am in no hurry to get there. This app, The Toilet Monster, is for those of you who have [...]

Farm Animals: Story and Games

Yesterday Farm Animals: Story and Games replaced Elmo’s Monster Maker as my toddler’s most requested app on the iPad. It’s a cute story, simple in both it’s text and illustrations but it definitely caught her interest. We went through the narrated version several times and she got a big kick out of the animal sounds. [...]

Peekaboo Forest

Peekaboo Forest is the third “Peekaboo” app from Night and Day Studios. It has an entirely different look and feel from Peekaboo Barn and Wild. The concept is the same, tap the screen to reveal a hidden animal, hear it’s sound and name. This time the setting is in the forest. Peekaboo Forest features the [...]

One Snowy Day

One Snowy Day was written and illustrated by Tammi Salzano and Hannah Wood, the team behind One Rainy Day. Both stories were brought to the App Store by mytales digital. Where One Rainy Day talks about colors One Snowy Day works numbers into it’s story. This is the tale of Penguin as he goes out [...]

Goo Goo Zoo

Goo Goo Zoo takes a different approach from other animal focused apps that I’ve seen. Instead of showing your child a picture of an animal, having them listen to it’s sound or learn it’s name Goo Goo Zoo goes for the funny bone. On the screen your child will see an animated baby animal. Each [...]

Individual Text Tones for Contacts

My 9 year old daughter told me about an iOS 5 feature that I was totally unaware of until last week. Miss S. showed me how to set up individual text tones for my contacts.

iOS 5.01 Released: Includes Fix For iOS 5.0 Battery Life Issue

iOS 5 Gets Its First Update Thanks to my husband Zack for getting this post out about the new iOS 5.1 release. I’ve yet to install the update…but I’ll be following his instructions below. Shortly after the iPhone 4S hit the market a bug was discovered that severely impacted battery life on those new devices. [...]

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
