Alphabet Blocks

Alphabet Blocks is an app that makes use of two things kids enjoy: the alphabet and the iPhone’s accelerometer.  Tap the screen and an alphabet block will appear. Now tilt the iPhone and watch the block slide around. Tap again and again and again to get ABC blocks popping up everywhere. They’ll slide and tumble [...]

Kid Book by Stolen Lunch Box

Kid Book is a great app for the 18 month to 3 year old crowd. It’s a simple concept but presented in an appealingly colorful way.  An animal appears on the screen inside a shape. Tap the animal and you’ll hear what it is. Tap again and you’ll hear the name of the shape. Another [...]

Wubbanub

I’ve mentioned before that we’re using the Soothie brand of pacifiers with our new little girl, we’ll call her Baby J. They’re great pacifiers but it bothers me that there’s nowhere to really hold onto it. Also, unless she’s got some great suction going on it’s going to fall out as soon as she relaxes [...]

Farm Friends

Did you have a See n’ Say when you were little? We did and it’s amazing how much entertainment that simple toy provided. I loved it when it’d wind down and the animal sounds would be s-l-o-w-e-d way down. Simple pleasures. There’s a new app coming that will bring the joy of a See n’ [...]

Occupy Baby

OccupyBaby aims to keep toddlers entertained. It was designed by the father of an eleven month old who knows firsthand how tricky it can be to keep these little ones happy when you’re out and about.  Right now OccupyBaby has one theme –On the Farm. When you start the app your child will see a [...]

Lala’s ABC

This is an adorable ABC flashcard app from the same folks behind the Little Lala app. I absolutely loved the illustrations for this app. You can tap play and the flashcards will scroll through the entire alphabet. On each screen you’ll see a letter, picture and word. The narrator says the letter, makes the letter’s [...]

Animal Coloring Book

Now this is the type of coloring book app that I like! There’s nothing complicated about it, exactly what you want for young kiddos. You choose a theme – bugs, jungle, farm or ocean – then you choose a picture to color. The pictures are simple without tiny, extra details. Now tap one of the [...]

gFlowers

I wasn’t too sure about the gFlowers app the first time I tried it out but it has definitely grown on me and my four year old really likes it. The premise is extremely simple but very appealing to little kids. The app begins with a screen of green grass. Tap the screen and a [...]

iOS 5.01 Released: Includes Fix For iOS 5.0 Battery Life Issue

iOS 5 Gets Its First Update Thanks to my husband Zack for getting this post out about the new iOS 5.1 release. I’ve yet to install the update…but I’ll be following his instructions below. Shortly after the iPhone 4S hit the market a bug was discovered that severely impacted battery life on those new devices. [...]

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
