CPSC Recalls

The CPSC Recall app is for moms who want to stay on top of product recalls. CPSC stands for Consumer Products Safety Commission. This app gives you a list of the most recent recalls. I was shocked at how many recalls pulled up the first time I used this app. I naively assumed that the [...]

DIRECTV

The DirecTV app lets you program your DVR to record shows from your iPhone. You can start by searching for shows, browsing by channel or browsing by date and time. If you find a show that looks interesting, tap on it and the app gives you a description of the show, what time it’s on, [...]

Coupon Sherpa

Is it just me or are coupons all the rage right now? I used to get looks when I presented my stack at the checkout, not anymore. Seems like everyone is clipping and doubling and looking for discounts. Which brings me to this great new app, Coupon Sherpa. If you’re looking for savings, put this [...]

The Weather Channel

A reader tipped me off to The Weather Channel app. She said that she likes it better then the built in iPhone weather app and after using it I’ve decided that I agree with her. The Weather Channel app uses your iPhone’s current location and pulls up the weather for that area. You can [...]

A lovely gift, but why wasn’t it an iPhone??

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/04/01/obama-gives-queen-an-ipod/   Sorry, the link isn’t working and I’ve got to wait for the husband to get home and work his magical coding skills to fix it. For now just copy and paste the URL in your address bar.

ManGo

ManGo is an app that helps you find locations for stores, restaurants, banks, etc. It’s easy to use and has a couple features that I really liked.  If you touch the "Feature" button at the bottom of the screen you’ll see some ManGo picks. I don’t think you can go wrong with a list that [...]

Ralph Lauren Collection

I’m the first to admit that my sense of fashion is somewhat challenged. I’m sure that I need some serious help with my sloppy jeans and T-shirts. I keep wishing/dreading that one day Stacy and Clinton from TLC’s "What Not to Wear" will show up with hideous footage of me and the funds and coaching [...]

Kindle for iPhone

Hip Hip Hooray! I could end this review right now because the Kindle app just put a whole lot of "Hooray" into my iPhone.  I’ve never been the least bit curious about Amazon.com’s Kindle. I like the feel of a book in my hand and being able to turn actual pages. Still, I was intrigued [...]

Places

The premise behind Places is that it lets you know all about different places around you. Catchy huh. It works by taking your phone’s location and pulling up the different stores and restaurants around you. You choose the category you want to look up – restaurants, shopping, nightlife, coffee or featured listings – and then [...]

USA Today

A great app that brings USA Today to your iPhone. The thing that I like about USA Today is the way you get news in a short, easy to read format. For those of us who primarily read picture books this is a welcome thing. The "Headlines" button takes you to the news stories. Along [...]

Individual Text Tones for Contacts

My 9 year old daughter told me about an iOS 5 feature that I was totally unaware of until last week. Miss S. showed me how to set up individual text tones for my contacts.

iOS 5.01 Released: Includes Fix For iOS 5.0 Battery Life Issue

iOS 5 Gets Its First Update Thanks to my husband Zack for getting this post out about the new iOS 5.1 release. I’ve yet to install the update…but I’ll be following his instructions below. Shortly after the iPhone 4S hit the market a bug was discovered that severely impacted battery life on those new devices. [...]

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
