The Nurse with the Red Clown Nose by StoryBoy

June 3, 2010

The Nurse with the Red Clown Nose is a sweet story about a nurse who works with children that are battling cancer. She keeps them laughing and lifts up their spirits throughout the story. I thought the story gave a nice perspective on a tough disease. It was realistic but not scary and it manages to stay upbeat inspite of the tough subject matter. It was refreshing to see a storybook app for kids that deals with real life subject matter.

This would be a great story to help my five year old understand what cancer is, if just a little bit. This year we lost my dad to brain cancer, and my stepmom to liver cancer a few months later. It has been hard to explain cancer to a young child without frightening them.

What do you think???

Individual Text Tones for Contacts

My 9 year old daughter told me about an iOS 5 feature that I was totally unaware of until last week. Miss S. showed me how to set up individual text tones for my contacts.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
