The Witch Has an Itch

October 24, 2011

We’re one week out from Halloween and here is a cute story about a mean, nasty witch who develops a bothersome itch. Gromelda just cannot figure out what is causing her to itch. She tries all sorts of magic to stop the itching but it only makes it worse. Finally, a wise wizard suggests that perhaps she is allergic to being mean. Maybe she could try being a good witch instead?

This is a pretty standard storybook app. You’ll be turning the pages by yourself and there’s no interaction on animation on the pages. Some of the illustrations are split onto two screens which means you have to swipe and pan to get the entire scene. It can be a little bit awkward at times. The Witch Has an Itch does have a lovely message about changing our tune, even when it’s a hard thing to do. The story’s author, Donna Guthrie, also narrates the app and she has a fantastic witch voice. She made the story great fun.

Chalk Walk

Chalk Walk is a very unique iPad app. It has been developed to help your children improve the pincer grip they use to hold a pencil.

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
