Tocomail Premium Subscription Giveaway!

Do you have children that are begging for their own email account?  My youngest asked for one for a long time before I gave in.  We don’t live near any of her cousins and one of her besties moved. They like to keep in touch sharing stories, homework and forwards. For a while I shared with my account with her, but I didn’t like that she could skim through my email (especially around gift giving time) and she didn’t like that she had to wait for me to let her in my account.

This week’s contest offers an app that provides a kid safe email system that allows you to monitor their friends and activity and gives children freedom to have their own account. Introducing Tocomail – Safe Email for Kids.

From the Developer: Safe, fun and simple Tocomail is the best kids email app on the market that offers total parental control while providing a real and fun email experience for children. We make emailing fun for kids with many cool features such as a drawing board, custom avatar creation, picture timeline and a colorful design that all kids will love! Tocomail was designed by parents who wanted to provide a comprehensive set of controls that includes a safe contact list, profanity filter and quarantine box to deliver maximum protection for your kids’ email communication. This is a great first email for kids with an easy-to-use interface designed to make it simple to stay connected with family and friends.

FEATURES FOR KIDS
– Personalized kids email address (i.e. name@tocomail.com)
– Amazing drawing board with postcards, stamps, pen, brushes and other instruments to draw email attachments
– PUSH notifications sent to iPhone/iPad when email is received by child
– Kids will love customizing contact list and their own profiles with fun profile pics
– 2 levels of UI with simplified mode for younger kids and standard mode for older children.

SAFETY FEATURES FOR PARENTS
– Safe contact list supervised by parent – you decide who can exchange emails with your child
Premium features – available at $2.99/month or 29.99/year
– Supervised general list of contacts in addition to Safe list
– Emails from anyone who is not on Safe list will be kept in Quarantine box until parent will approve or reject them
– Receive a copy of the quarantined kids emails to your regular email account
– Parent can approve or reject emails right from the notification emails
– Profanity filter will detect and quarantine the email with bad language

From Me: I was curious about what the difference was between the free version and the paid subscription. This is what I found. With Free service, the parent creates a Safe list of contacts. Email from any other contacts will get sent to a Catch All Box which is visible only to the parent (through your regular email account). With the Premium service there is a Gray list option for contacts and kids can create contacts themselves. Email from gray-listed or unknown contact will be quarantined for your approvals or rejection. I think the Free version would be a good place to start your little guys. Older kids would probably appreciate the freedom that comes from the paid account and it would resemble accounts their friends would use. Best of all it still allows you to monitor who your child’s friends and contacts are without reading all their email. A very good option, in my opinion.

Within the email itself there are two settings. Simplified or standard. Simplified is geared for 5-7 year olds. It opens the drawing interface right from the start and the email is sent out immediately after selecting a recipient.  It is not available to send to multiple people. Standard is for 8+ and resembles a more traditional email with subject line and text fields. You can also send to multiple people from this type of account.

Giveaway: In this week’s giveaway we offer 5 codes for the “premium subscription” which is a $29.99 value and good for one full year of service.
