This review is long overdue but it’s not that it hasn’t been on my mind. It has been, every day, several times a day because every time I pick up my iPhone I see my Uncommon Case that I need to write a review for. I’m grateful for a little bit of breathing room so that I can catch up on a few of these extra reviews and ease my guilt every time I reach for my phone!
I’ve gone through quite a few iPhone cases since I began this site and you may have read several of the reviews. The one currently on my phone is the Capsule case from Uncommon. It was on my iPhone 4 and when I switched to the iPhone 4S the case came along. That’s one of the good things about no drastic iPhone body redesign – no need for a new case. The case comes in two pieces and you slide your iphone into the longer, top piece and then slide the bottom piece on until the two connect. There are cutouts on top for your sleep/wake button and headset jack. On the side for your volume controls and at the bottom for your speaker, microphone and dock connector. A small cutout on the back works for your camera. The case comes up around the side of the phone just a bit which I like. It makes me feel more comfortable knowing that if my phone gets dropped (which it will) there’ll be something between the ground and the screen.
Alright, so a standard case so far, right? Now for the fun and the uncommon part of uncommon. When you order your case you are allowed to customize it. You can upload your own artwork, photograph or other image and they will turn that into your case. There are some file requirements that must be met but you have the ability to create a truly unique iPhone case. These aren’t vinyl cases, or stickers. Uncommon prints your design directly onto the case. Now what if you’re looking for a unique case but you don’t have anything terribly personal that you want to put on it? They also have a gallery of artwork that can be used. There’s some great stuff out there, I get compliments on my case all the time.
I’ve been completely happy with my Uncommon Case and I like having something on my iPhone that I picked out. Something that makes me happy and shows a little bit of my personality. The personalized cases would make a great Christmas gift. I’m not going to say who it’s for but I plan to order another one for that very reason. You can see their entire line of products at this link. It includes cases for the iPhone 4/4S, 3G/3GS, iPod Touch. iPad cases are coming soon. Prices range from $19.95 – $39.95. Gift cards are also available.
I almost forgot! During the ordering process my order was submitted twice by mistake. Within a half hour I had a phone call from the Uncommon Customer Service team about the issue. They were on top of it and wanted to make sure that I really wanted two identical cases. Since I didn’t I was very glad they caught the glitch. I had a great experience with both the email and phone customer service experience.
