Video Zoom Plus

July 30, 2010

videozoom_screenshot1.jpgThe app Video Zoom Plus gives you the ability to zoom in and out with your iPhone’s video camera. You use the app to record your videos and there will be a zoom in/zoom out slider on the screen. Adjusting the slider will adjust the camera’s zoom. It’s a very easy app to use. When you are done filming the app will save your video. There is a setting that will allow you to save your original video as well. However, I’ve run into a problem when it comes to the saved videos. If I look at my Camera Roll using the regular photos button I can’t see the videos. But if I open up the videos through Video Zoom Plus there they are. Also, no matter how I hold the phone when I’m filming, the orientation is off when I watch the video playback. The video plays in landscape mode so I must turn my iPhone to watch it correctly. But it doesn’t fill the whole screen so I only get a slice of what I filmed. When I playback the video on my computer the orientation is also off but I can’t flip my laptop to watch it correctly. Hopefully these issues will be ironed out in a future update because Video Zoom Plus zooms like it says it will. It’s just that the saving and replaying still need to be tweaked.

Good analysis. I want the zoom feature but your analysis makes me scared to get it. What do you think?

I just looked at my review date, it was in July and I haven’t used the app since then. I checked iTunes and from user reviews it sounds like the saving issue is still troublesome. I’d keep a watch on that…the zoom feature was nice but I’d prefer something with files that are easy to find and use. If they get those things updated it will be a great app. ~Heather

Myself and a few friends are having a small technical issue. We’ve been recording videos of our precious children with iPhone4 for 6+ months and now that we’ve sat down to do some editing…..when we pull it into any slideshow windows editor its opening up sideways.!! Plays in windows player fine but when pulled into an editing program it’s sideways. Amy suggestions??

Font see a way to subscribe to this post…..?

That’s the same issue I had when I originally tried out the app. I know it’s a common complaint and I was hoping they’d fix it in an update. Is there a rotate feature in your editor? Can you rotate each slide one at a time? Would be a big pain, I know.

What do you think???

WebMD Baby was released earlier this month and it is awesome! Seriously one of the best “baby” apps I’ve seen to date

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
