In August I discovered the first Violet app for the iPad. Violet is a curious child and her stories tell of her adventures as the inquisitive Phantom Girl. Phantom Girl is a detective of sorts and in the app Violet and the Mysterious Black Dog she sets out to solve a mystery of a cute, black, furry variety. The illustrations in the second app are as much fun as they were the first time around. The first app was great but improvements have definitely been made and this time things are better than ever. Narration has been added to the story and I think that’s terrific for younger readers. More interactivity has also been added. Screens have objects that are outlined in yellow dotted lines, tap on one of these objects and you’ll be rewarded with animation or another illustration will pop out. Many of these objects have been woven into the story as clues for the Phantom Girl to gather. Plenty of detail and humor have been added to the illustrations and “pop-outs”. They’re well worth paying attention to and they truly made the story for me.
Additional Violet apps are on the way to the iPad and I say keep them coming!

Not taking a code as I bought it a couple of weeks ago but it’s a great app for kids. Hope there’ll be a promo for the first book too.
