What I Do
About Me
I am a semi-sane stay at home mom of four who’s married to a smart techy fellow. He talked me into an iPhone and I’ve been a happy woman ever since. The phone has been great for me, great for the kids and we’re having a good time playing around with the endless applications. Only trouble is my fellow sometimes “helps” me out by loading my phone with things I “need”. Or rather, things he thinks I need. Apps that may be wonderful for a man but that I find pretty useless. So add another thing to my mental to do list – remove useless apps. I figure I’m probably not the only mom with an iPhone who’s run into this trouble and this site is my attempt to help moms take back their iPhones and load them up with the stuff we really need. Like that app that gives our husbands the power to read our minds. Get on that Apple developers.
What I Do
I review iPhone apps for moms. I have no technical background other than the ability to use a computer, email and of course, my iPhone. My kids qualify me for the mom category. I’m have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical (for lack of a better word) guts of how the apps work are way beyond my mom brain. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
Some of the best iPhone apps can be hidden deep within the iTunes store. My job is to hunt out the best ones for moms and then let you know about them, saving you the time it takes to surf 20 pages of lifestyle apps just to find the one that’s going to help you stick to that diet you’re starting tomorrow. Unless you need an excuse to avoid mopping and cleaning toilets. Then by all means, surf away, I won’t tell.
I also receive app review requests from developers. I try to review all they send me unless it’s obviously not a fit for my readers. Doing this I’ve discovered apps I absolutely love but wouldn’t have found otherwise. I’ve also discovered apps I cannot ever see myself, or another mom, using. I’ll give you my honest opinion about an app, whether it’s review request or one I’ve found on my own. I’m going to always try and find something positive to say though, I guess that’s just the mom in me.
One last thing. The iTunes App Store is like a giant box of chocolates offering a little something for everyone. I love the chocolates with butter cream centers but you may prefer something with a crunchy nougat. So please, read my reviews and take my humble opinions to heart. But before you spend that $1.99 check out the app’s details on iTunes to make sure you get the sweet treat you really wanted.
A Couple Minor Details:
At the end of my review I’ll post the seller’s name and the price I paid for the app when I reviewed it. Something that was $3.99 when I reviewed it might only be $1.99 now so it’s worth a look on iTunes before you decide against an app based on price alone.
Even though I’m only mentioning “iPhone apps” in my reviews, an app will usually work on both the iPhone and the iPod Touch. I have an iPhone so it’s what I’m reviewing apps on but if you’re a Touch person please continue reading and then double check the iTunes Store to make sure the app will work for you.
