Wild Things

I wasn’t one of the many, many people who saw the new “Where the Wild Things Are” movie this weekend. I’ve heard good things about it but I’m a bit nervous about seeing one of my favorite children’s books on the big screen. If I go see the movie then those are the images in my head when I read the story and what if I’m disappointed? So I’m still on the fence about whether or not we’ll take the kids.

However, I did try out the new, free Wild Things app and if you’re looking for a Wild Things experience on your iPhone you should check it out. It’s got the usual things you’d expect to find in a movie tie-in app: photos, posters, video and songs from the soundtrack. But it’s also got Carol, one of the Wild Things. Carol makes this app because you get to interact with him. You can control whether it’s day or night and whether Carol is awake or snoring away on your phone. You can make him howl and can throw dirt clods at him. Be careful because he’s likely to throw a few back at you. Now for my favorite part. You can make Carol eat contacts from your contact list. You tap the contact icon and then choose one of your contacts. A little card will flutter onto the screen and it’ll have the person’s name on it. Carol snatches it up and eats it up he loves them so. You can do the same thing with pictures off your camera roll. Choose one and watch Carol just gobble it up. Think of the fun you can have if you’re really irritated with someone. If you tick me off then I’m going to feed you to the Wild Thing. Could be a great stress reliever!

WebMD Baby was released earlier this month and it is awesome! Seriously one of the best “baby” apps I’ve seen to date

What I Do

I review iPhone apps for moms. I have a decent grasp of techy things but the technical guts (for lack of a better word) of how the apps work are beyond me. So my reviews will be practical and purely subjective. Reviews for moms by a real life, actual mom. My kids will vouch for me.
