YOUBIQ App

Back in July I spotlighted the Gymbl on the site. It’s a very slick tripod for your iPhone. One of the things that it allows you to do is take panoramic photos when you use it in conjunction with the YOUBIQ app. At the time of my review I mentioned that hadn’t tested out that app and the developers were kind enough to send me a promo code so I could give it a whirl. It’s taken me a little bit to get around to it but I’ve finally had a chance to use YOUBIQ to take some photographs. I like what I see.
The first time you use the app you’ll be shown an onscreen guide that outlines where you’ll find the app’s buttons and what they all do. The guide can easily be pulled up anytime after that for a refresher. Photos can be taken individually or you can take a series of them to use in a project. After you’ve taken a photo you can tag it and give it a caption. YOUBIG allows you to save a copy to your iPhone’s photo album or to share it on Twitter and Facebook. When you purchase the app you’ll sign up for a YOUBIQ account (free) that gives you access to 2 GB storage on their cloud. After you’ve taken a photo the app automatically copies your file and saves your original on the cloud. This means that even after you’ve deleted the image off your phone, or you’ve changed it using another editing app, you’ll still have access to the original.
I’ve been impressed with the speed at which YOUBIQ takes photos. My native iPhone camera always seems to drag after it takes a photo. I was able to tap, tap, tap and take one after another with this app. I need that when I’m taking pictures of my kids. I haven’t had an opportunity to hook up the Gymbl to take a panoramic shot yet but as soon as I come across something grand and sweeping I’ll be doing it. After using the app I don’t doubt that the process will be simple and straightforward.
