Youtube Videos for Kids with Promo Codes

Today’s app comes from another parent who is wary about setting their child free on YouTube. To solve this problem he developed the app Youtube Videos for Kids. This app lets parents create a personalized collection of kid friendly YouTube videos. It comes pre-loaded with clips but these can easily be edited if their not your taste. To add in your own videos you’ll perform a search of YouTube by keyword. Once you’ve found what you’re looking for you can add them to your own list with one tap. Even though you are searching YouTube you’ll never leave the app. There’s no need to sign up for a YouTube account or login anywhere at all. It’s an extremely easy process.
I do wish that it was just a smidge easier to navigate through the clips in my collection. Right now they appear one after another in a list. To see them all I must scroll down the screen and to get back to the top I must scroll back up. I’m not sure what else I’d suggest but perhaps there’s a way where you could tap at the top of the screen this would take you directly to the top like when you’re browsing Safari. My last request is for a way to reorder the video clips. Right now the newest additions appear at the bottom of the list. It would be nice to be able to rearrange them myself or to have the newer clips appear at the top by default. Just a couple of suggestions.
Overall I was pleased with the solution offered by Youtube Videos for Kids and the app’s ease of use.
The developer of YouTube Videos for Kids has given me 20 promo codes to give away. Wow!! I’m going to list the promo codes here and let them go on a first come first served basis. Please, please, leave a comment stating which code you took. I have to moderate the comments so it may take a little while for them to appear on the site but I’ll do my best to stay on top of it. I was also recently told that promo codes now work anywhere in the world. Hooray! And don’t forget to leave feedback in iTunes letting the developer know what you think of their app. Enjoy!

**This is now a free app on iTunes for a limited time.
Apparently the new version also has a fix for the search problem that was happening due to an update by YouTube.

Be careful. I have just learned my 7 and 9 year old have found more that just innocent videos using this app. I found videos of soft porn on their iPods. All they had to type in was “sex.” I though this app only had safe accessibility which is why I allowed them to use it and I only checked it once in awhile. I was disgusted to find out what they could be accessed. Even if they couldn’t see the video, some titles that came up were very inappropriate. Please be careful. We are deleting this app even though we paid for it and beginning some serious talks about internet safety!

Wendy – Thank you for your comment! That is so scary and a lesson to everyone to check your kids iPods. I’ve found that no matter what filtering claims apps have nothing can replace parental supervision. ~ Heather
