2do BY day is a streamlined, simple to use task app. It allows you to create a to-do list and then view your tasks on the day that they are due, focusing only on your most immediate needs. It’s terrific if you tend to get overwhelmed by long to-do lists like I do.
To add a task you simply give it a label, set a begin date and a due date and add in any additional notes. As I was typing I did find myself missing auto-correct, I wish that 2do BY day used it. At the bottom of the screen you’ll see a button for “Today”. Tap this and 2do By day brings up a list of all the tasks you added for that current day. As you power through your tasks you can tap on them to remove them from the list. Another button at the bottom of the screen is labeled “Upcoming”. This button pulls up all upcoming tasks, those beyond today. The next button is “All” and this will pull up all tasks that you have entered.
A “More” button allows you to customize 2 do By day’s settings. One thing that you can do is define what an upcoming task is. Would you like to see all tasks within the next 3 days? 5? Or maybe within the next week? You can choose to organize tasks by due date and you can tell the app what screen you want to see first when it opens. I like to see my screen of today tasks but you might prefer the screen where you add tasks. Finally, the “More” section has a spot where you can see all of your past tasks. They remain here until you clear them out. This is a nice feature because sometimes I forget what I’ve done and I need to go back and look at a task again. It’s nice to know I’ve got a backup.
2do BY day keeps it simple and focuses only on the to-do list. I know that there are apps available with a plethora of bells and whistles. Personally, this is the kind I prefer. Something straightforward that shows me my lists and lets me check them off. 2do BY day’s got that covered!
*Update 5/10/12 – 2do BY day has had an update and one of the features that has been added is auto-correct. Thank you! There have been a few other changes as well. When you are creating a task you can choose to turn on a “Specified Schedule”. The default is begin-today, due-today but you can easily change this with a date wheel. You can also set a specific time that your task begins and ends. From here you can set up reminders too. If you choose to turn off the specified schedule your beginning and due date will show up as anytime.
These new features improve an already great app but 2do BY day has kept its simplicity and focus on tasks at hand which is what I think makes it so great.
