ABC Food is the newest ABC app from Peapod Labs and in my opinion it’s the best one yet! As in the previous apps the Little Explorers are here to present the alphabet letters in a unique way. Children choose a letter and the Explorers appear at the bottom of the screen, holding up letters that spell out a word that begins with the letter. A colorful photograph of the object is also shown and children can also watch videos. To navigate through the app children can tap on one of the letters that an Explorer is holding. This will take them to a new letter screen and a new word. ABC Food is all about food and each word is something to eat. The Little Explorers are dressed up in food costumes and they’re absolutely adorable standing at the bottom of the screen. It’s a fantastic detail, my favorite was the “I” explorer in the ice cream outfit.

Each letter is associated with several different types of food which expands the words beyond the twenty-six letters of the alphabet. ABC Food also incorporates a new feature that my toddler absolutely loved. After they have looked at the word and picture children can “play” with their food. The Little Explorers will invite them to slice a strawberry, eat their grapes or decorate a bowl of ice cream, etc. When they swipe their fingers over the screen children will interact with the food and make things happen. My Miss J thought it was great fun!

If you haven’t discovered the Little Explorers yet then this app would be a great place to begin. You can also find them in ABC Play, ABC Music, ABC Wildlife and ABC Go. Peapod Labs has tapped into a winning formula for alphabet learning and with each app my family continues to be big fans.

I just got this based on your review and my 4yo LOVES it! He knew about half his letters/letter sounds before this app, but now he knows more, plus it’s easier for him to associate letters with food 🙂
