Alpha Baby is a simple and effective app for toddlers and young preschoolers. You begin with a blank screen that your child may tap. When they tap different letters, numbers shapes, pictures and colors appear while a narrator announces their name. They can use their finger to tap on an item again and hear it’s name or drag it around the screen. If they hold their finger down then the item will grow bigger and then smaller, depending on how long they keep their finger in that spot.
In Alpha Baby’s settings you may choose exactly what’s displayed on the screen. If you want your child to only see numbers then so be it. There are additional item choices including lower case letters, bug numbers, mixed case letters and additional shapes. Here you can also determine how many items are displayed at a time and whether you want a child or adult’s voice for narration. You may change the background color, the color of the letters, shapes, etc. and set the size you want them to be. You can even record yourself saying the narration for the item names and words of encouragement that will play in the app. If you want pictures to appear when your child taps on the screen then you may add them in from your iPhone camera or camera roll. I absolutely love this feature and we’ve had a lot of fun with it.
I was very, very impressed with all of the features and customization that have been packed into this little app. I found it to be extremely well done and I think it’s sure to entertain and educate the little ones. The app is a steal at only $.99 and I’d suggest that anyone looking for a toddler app snatch it up.
