Alphabetical Order

Alphabetical Order is an adorable and educational game for iPad that helps to teach children just that- plus a few bonus games. In its main game, a little monkey bounces over the letters of the alphabet during the song, only to knock them over into a big pile. The player’s job is to put the alphabet back in order once again by clicking and dragging the letters to their appropriate places. My six-year old tester thought that this part was a bit too easy for her, although she did like all of the bright colors and being able to manipulate the letters. My four-year old tester however, thought that this part of the game was so much fun, but did require a little bit of coaching from me, and occasionally re-singing the song together to figure out which letter came next.

The three bonus games are also fun and educational, and a little bit more suited to those who have a better grasp on the alphabet, as they go over matching upper and lower case letters, as well as letters to their sounds. My little testers enjoyed being able to draw lines to connect the matching blocks and then dropping the blocks and watching them slide down to their match. It was a nice feature that gave them more ways to interact with the game.

Overall, this is a perfect game for those little ones about preschool-kindergarten age who are learning to recognize what the letters look like, and what sounds they make. The graphics were nice and the bright colors made the game very appealing. Worth the $0.99? I say, yes!
