Now this is a cool app! For those parents of little ones out there, Baby Monitor 3G is the “first genuine Baby Monitor on App Store that works over any network -WiFi, 3G, Edge and CDMA.” This app is designed to help you have peace of mind while your little one is sleeping. Baby Monitor 3G supports two-way audio communication, a “baby voice booster” which will help you hear even the smaller noises that your child makes while sleeping, a baby camera function so that you may actually see your baby, and it supports iPhone 3G and above (anything that can run apps on iOS 4.2).

I found the setup to be very easy. You simply choose which device you want to use as the Parent Station (to stay with you) and then choose the device you want to use as the Baby Station (to stay in the baby’s room) and then enter the given code to link the two stations as a pair. There are cute graphics which show you when the baby is asleep or awake depending on the level of noise it is picking up – “Baby is sleeping” or “Baby is awake!” will be displayed on the screen. When your baby is down for a nap, you are able to take photos remotely to make sure that your baby is asleep. Another neat feature is the two-way communication: say your baby wakes up and you want to reassure them that you are coming to see them, you may simply talk to them through your Parent Station and then go to their room – how cool. It’s also a great thing that you do not have to buy the app more than once, you simply download it and then put on the devices you wish to use.

I thought this app had a really interesting and well thought-out concept. I think that it could definitely be useful to parents. I plan on trying this app with my son and recommend it to those with little ones.
