Blotty Pots is a strategy game where players try to be the first to fill in a game board of paint pots with their color. Strategy is involved as players take turns and pots are only filled up a little at a time. When a pot is full it spills over to the neighboring pots, taking them over. The game can be played against the computer or in pass and play mode with a friend. The game board comes with 16, 25 or 36 paint cans. Each tap on a can fills it up 1/3 of the way. When the pot is ready to overflow 1/3 of it spreads to the adjacent pots.
Strategy comes into play as you decide which pots to fill and when. The game really picks up pace when the pots start to overflow. Points are scored for each 1/3 pot of paint you claim and the winner at the end of the game is the player with the most points. The game will be over when there are no more moves left because one player has claimed all of the pots. I like the fact that the game isn’t winner take all but is based on points.
Blotty Pots is one of those games that is easy to learn but tough to master. I would have appreciated a tutorial or help screen when I was starting out but once you figure out what you need to do the game is straightforward. The game is based on an original concept and I like seeing apps that can be played and enjoyed by entire families.
