Bubbling Math is an iPad app that takes Math practice and turns it into a game. Not an intense game that will send your children into a mental overdrive. This is a nicely paced game with levels where your child is trying to earn gold cups while practicing their addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. When you begin with the app you’ll select which level of difficulty you’d like your child to play, as well as which operations you want them to practice. You can even select different levels of difficulty for the different operations. Great feature. Once you’ve completed the set up it’s time for your child to play.

Now your child is given a Math problem to solve. The answer is contained in one of several bubbles that are floating on screen. Once your child has solved the problem they tap on a bubble. If they’re correct they’ll move on. If they are incorrect they lose a life and must try again. A wizard sits in the corner of the screen waving his wand and providing encouragement while your child works. How well your child does with the problems determines whether or not they’ll earn the bronze, silver and gold cup that are available with each level. Even after they’ve completed a level children can go back and try to earn the cups.

Bubbling Math has a section for parents where you can view how well your child has done on the different levels. You can even see the exact problems they’ve missed and what their wrong answer was. Everything is laid out in a neat and easy to read format. I found the parents section to be very helpful. I do wish there was a way to have more than one player profile at a time. Perhaps in an update. I like the overall pace of the game. It doesn’t feel too stressful yet it remains challenging.
