Do you remember that famous episode of “I Love Lucy” when she is trying to fill orders on a conveyor belt, as it speeds up faster and faster, ultimately ending in a hilarious mess? Similarly, in Chocolate Chip Cookie Factory: Place Value, boxes, stacks, and individual cookies speed past on a conveyor belt, as you have to try to fill orders as quickly as possible by using math. The game is divided into 6 levels of difficulty, and operations: counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. The game is designed for ages 6+ so it would be great for all ages of elementary school students who are working on building their math skills, and especially doing them quickly! If the timer runs out on the clock before you can place the cookie orders, your customers will go somewhere else!

The graphics in this app are pretty basic, but it didn’t bother me, because with the clock ticking away and cookies speeding by, there is really not much else that you can focus on while you’re playing. I had a little difficulty figuring out how many cookies were in the pallets, crates, cartons and trucks at first (I had to use a little trial and error during some math problems to figure it out). I wish that there had been a breakdown of the amounts in the introduction so that I could have focused on the math problems right away, instead of trying to figure out the amounts.

I could see this app as a great classroom tool for elementary school teachers who want to reinforce addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills in a fun way. Students will love to be able to practice on the iPad, and teachers will love that kids are excited and eager to work on math skills without having to worry about ads and spam on an app.
