Do you have a little one who loves Curious George? Or how about a child that is learning to read? If so, you should definitely check out the new Curious George Goes Camping book app. With Curious George Goes Camping, kids can enjoy an interactive story about George on a camping adventure! This app is based on Margret and H. A. Rey’s children’s book and the hit PBS KIDS TV series, and is a great animated story that the whole family can enjoy together! I thought that this app was very cute, and my three year old son loves it. He is also a Curious George fan!
This app is part of the iRead With collection, which is an innovative “read-aloud” program that has been created to foster language development skills in preschoolers, and ultimately get them ready to read on their own. The basics of the program include: a prompting system for parents that encourages them to start a conversation with their child by asking questions at certain points in the story, and the ability for children to become actively involved in the narrative (record their own voice, etc.).
There are three main modes in the Curious George Goes Camping app: Listen, Read & Talk and Theater. The Listen mode allows children to enjoy narration while flipping through the pages of the book. Read & Talk allows children to record their own voice – important words can be recorded in your child’s voice, and children can even create and record their very own dialogue lines! I loved how when kids tap on the word, they will hear their own voice reading the word aloud. Using the Theater mode, kids can use their creativity and imagination to make their own Curious George story!
There are lots of fun interactions and animations that are tied to the storytelling to create an immersive experience for young learners. I thought that the graphics and animations were great, and definitely brought the world of Curious George to life. I think any George fan would be excited to check this one out, and it’s quite educational!
I really enjoyed the Curious George Goes Camping app! I love how the app helps young children develop their speech and language skills, as well as their vocabulary and comprehension, while reading through a fun story. I would definitely recommend this app to parents of preschoolers, especially those with fans of Curious George!
