At the very beginning, you will see a main screen with a farm background. On the main screen, kids can either tap on the farmer or select the A-Z drop down menu with all the letters. If you tap on the farmer, he will then hop in his tractor and drive you to the farmers market where you can start with the letter A and work your way through the entire alphabet. Or, if you choose the A-Z drop-down menu at the top, you will be shown a screen with all the letters from A to Z and select which letter you want to see. At any time while playing, kids can choose the home button (looks like a barn) or the A-Z drop-down menu. I thought that the navigation in this app was very simple and intuitive, something that younger children can pick up easily.
Each letter of the alphabet has its own page within the app, and is paired with a healthy food at the farmers market. As kids work their way from A to Z, they will encounter lots of fun animations and interactions on each page. For example, the letter A is for apple, but what else starts with A? Well, astronaut and alligator, of course! Almost every page has some sort of musical animation as well, a bear that beat-boxes, carrots that sing, a gorilla that plays the guitar…my son absolutely loves all the musical interactions! So, you can see, not only is this app great for teaching the ABC’s, it is also a lot of fun for little ones! I think that the $1.99 price tag is just right, as there are no in-app purchases required and no advertisements.
I really loved the F is for Farmers Market app! I would have to say that this is one of my favorite alphabet apps I have seen in a while. I would definitely recommend this app to parents of younger children who are learning their ABC’s, it is very cute and fun!
