Firehouse Adventure comes from Peapod Labs, the development studio behind the Little Explorers ABC apps. I’m a big fan of those apps for their use of themes, adorable graphics and educational content. Not to mention the unique way they allow children to move through alphabet flashcards. Firehouse Adventure also stars the Little Explorers but it’s a departure from the ABC apps. This is a collection of eight mini games built around firefighters and it’s awesome.

Each of the eight mini games centers around something that a firefighter would actually do in real life. Games are played in several ways. Some require tapping on the screen, others will have your child maneuvering the device. Each is colorful, engaging and entertaining. Children earn points while they play and the points add up to unlock different pieces of firefighting equipment and safety information. Once a piece is unlocked players get to hear a description of what it does and how a firefighter would use it to do their job. These are rewards that will teach valuable information.

The Little Explorers are adorable in their firefighter outfits and even though the app is illustrated it still has a realistic feel to it. The graphics look sharp on screen and the app is universal, designed for both iPhone and iPad. Everything, from the game play to the sound effects, works together perfectly. This is another great title from Peapod Labs and another entertaining and educational app for preschoolers and Kindergarteners.
