Here are some apps for celebrating Halloween – a little something for everyone!
For the littlest pumpkins:
A favorite in our house, Peekaboo Trick or Treat is a great Halloween app for even the littlest pumpkins! This app features 14 costumed characters that are waiting to pop out and amuse. Kids will knock on the door and see who’s there – is it a ghost with awesome dance moves, or a friendly fire-breathing dragon, or even a puppy dressed as a princess? The cast of creatures rotates each time within this “haunted” house and aims to surprise and keep your little one laughing. Kids will hear and see the words (names) of the characters, which will help them learn to say and spell the names. The app features both a looped mode for endless play, as well as a storybook mode, which ends with all the characters going to sleep (perfect for bedtime)! If you are looking for a not-so-scary Halloween app for your little one, be sure to check out Peekaboo Trick or Treat!
For the medium sized pumpkins:
Currently on sale in the App Store through November 4th, Room on the Broom: Games is a great app for both preschoolers and elementary age children. This app is based on the best selling book by Julia Donaldson, and is designed to inspire learning as well as creativity. Kids will play, explore and fly through the sky with the Witch and her cat. There are lots of fun activities to complete as you collect medals along the way, including: flying from star-to-star creating amazing pictures in the sky, catching things for Cat as they fly past in the sky, helping the Dragon eat his favorite foods and more! Be sure to check this app out with your kids this Halloween!
For the whole family to enjoy together:
In my mind, a classic, It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! This app is great entertainment for the whole family to enjoy together. While celebrating Halloween this year, be sure to hang out with Charlie Brown and the entire Peanuts gang to find out if the Great Pumpkin will ever appear?? Kids can choose from several avatars and costume combinations and create their very own Peanuts character to go trick-or-treating with Charlie Brown. As kids read the story, there are fun animations that pop out of the page, and kids can touch and drag objects to make them come to life. The app will help kids with reading skills as they can tap words to hear individual words spoken (text is also highlighted). Kids can experience the original dialog from the 1966 animated classic, as well as the soundtrack featuring music and sound effects from the original holiday special! In addition to reading the story, there are lots of fun Halloween themed activities as well, including: carving your pumpkin, bobbing for apples, and playing Schroeder’s piano. This Halloween, gather your family for a classic and enjoy, It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
