We’re almost two months into school here and I’m so flashcarded out! My 7th grader has been using them for everything this year and I’m her study buddy in the evenings so that means I’ve been using them too. Life Science, Grammar and World Civilizations – we’ve been drilling on vocabulary of some sort or another for over a month now. I really don’t mind helping her out but every once in awhile we need a shake up, which is where iVocAudio has come in.
iVocAudio lets you create your own audio quizzes. You create folders for your quizzes and then the quizzes themselves. For each card you record a question and answer. When you are finished it’s time to give yourself a test. iVocAudio asks the question and then you answer, checking your reply against what you recorded earlier. You then mark whether or not you knew the answer. iVocAudio tracks your score and adjusts the questions it asks. For example, after going through the set you won’t repeat the ones you aced. You’ll spend time on questions you’re struggling with.
iVocAudio comes with a thorough FAQ section and helpful video. I’d suggest going through both before you launch into the app. The interface on the test requires you move a “selector” around the screen instead of just tapping with your finger. I couldn’t figure this out in the beginning. If I’d gone through the video I would have known exactly what to do.
Once you get the hang of it iVocAudio can be a sweet study aid. I set my daughter loose with the app and she created her own quizzes. One for each subject. They’ve come in very handy on the days when I’m not able to help her study. I especially like the fact that by creating the quizzes she’s getting in some extra study time.
