What is better than one awesome educational kid’s app? How about THREE AWESOME educational kid’s apps? Kid Awesome apps are the recently released latest and greatest in learning apps for children. These apps are jam packed with essential phonics and math skills for your children wrapped up with a whole lot of fun. Convincing your children to practice math and English has never been so easy!
I was able to review the first three Kid Awesome apps and let me tell you, they are just that – AWESOME! These apps are divided by grade level and then split into math and English skills. Each of the apps is able to engage children by combining the widely popular endless runner games with educational skills and learning. Each app also has its own unique story line and missions to keep them coming back for more. Children are able to customize their runner by choosing their facial features, hair and running uniform. The coins that they earn while running can be redeemed to purchase additional options to customize their characters as well. For example, in the Kindergarten English app, children start out running down a city street. The narrator asks them to find letters and words and they must move back and forth on the street to run and “pick up” what the narrator asks for. The word or letter is also shown at the top of the screen if they need a visual reminder of what they are looking for. After they have attempted to find five items, then they are able to just run through the streets and collect coins to purchase things for their character. The scenery and obstacles change with each level so the game stays new and exciting for the player. The Kindergarten Math and First Grade Math apps have the same format, with different content specific to their subject matter and grade level.
As your child plays the app, their progress is recorded and each time they move through a level a different skill is introduced. Once they have completed the first level for each skill, the difficulty increases and they move through the skills again. There are five levels of play for each skill so there are plenty of opportunities to grow and be challenged while playing. Parents also have the option of unlocking all of the levels at any time if they don’t want their child to have to play through every skill. So if, for example, there is a specific area that they want them to practice on they can select that particular skill and just play that level over and over.
The Kid Awesome apps were just released two weeks ago and if these debut apps are any indication then these apps are sure to be a hit! I was impressed with every aspect of these apps. It was obvious to me after playing them that the developers really put a lot of thought and effort into them and the result is a collection of educational, fun, engaging, challenging, stimulating, high-quality apps that your family will love. My first grader is in love with these apps and I feel that it is a perfect way to help him play while practicing math and reading skills that he has been taught in school. I feel good about letting him play these apps because I know that he is having fun and gaining some educational value as well. If you are a parent or educator and are looking for a great way to reinforce math and phonics skills then look no further than Kid Awesome!
