Lexico Sounds is a unique new app that is designed to help children enhance their cognitive and auditory skills.  Children will be able to learn about sounds from all walks of life, including: animals, musical instruments, home (people), nature sounds, and many more.  I thought that the concept of this app was very interesting and definitely useful for younger children.

There are 20 different puzzles with various subjects, including: farm animals, wild animals, birds, humans, musical instruments (classical, modern, and percussion), toys, vehicles, and many more.  The gameplay is perfect for younger children as all navigation is done by touching icons and dragging items.  In order to play the game, children must drag the sound icon onto the corresponding image to match them together (i.e. your child will hear a “moo”, and drag the sound icon onto the cow to make a match).

Once your child becomes better with sound recognition, they can play a challenge mode which will show items from all categories.  The goal with this game is to associate as many sounds to the corresponding images as possible within 1 minute.  There is even a way to share your high scores via e-mail or on social networks.

I really enjoyed the Lexico Sounds app and thought it was a very neat concept.  I should mention that the Lexico Sounds app is a free download, which includes the “animals” category – all other levels can be unlocked with one In-App Purchase (simply choose the “Unlock all Sounds” option to purchase).  I know that my son and I will definitely be playing this app together and I would highly recommend it to those parents with younger children.
