When the first hint of frost is in the air, I know harvest season is in full swing.  As I impatiently waited for my first batch of apple sauce to come off the stove I found another harvest to be excited about. Math Harvest is a patchwork, math adventure in burlap and plaid.  The endearing clumsy farmer keeps dropping his harvest. Not to worry, some of his cute animal friends are willing to help him gather more.

Start the game by choosing your helper from pig, cow or sheep.  Then choose your difficulty level, which is represented by the crops of: Apples, numbers from 1-5; Oranges, numbers from 1-10; Carrots, numbers from 1-15.  Levels include five questions for each of the 4 math operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. You select your answers by picking the produce or sacks of produce.  Questions are timed so not only do you have to get the answer correct, you also have to do it before the  fruit spoils.

Carrots is a tough level for multiplication and division. Harvesters will really have to think fast to answer in the time limit.  If you don’t make it, the animals will encourage you to try again.  Correct answers always get positive feedback from the farmer. Once practice in completed in all four operations a reward game is provided.

I would have liked more problems within each operation and being able to practice an individual operation would have been a plus too.  Overall, Math Harvest is an entertaining way to study math facts and it’s  available in English and Spanish.
