None of my children play the piano, so far they’ve all opted for the violin but I’m continually impressed with the increasing number of apps that are being developed to help those who are learning the piano. Piano Chord Helper is one of those apps, built to provide an interactive chord reference for students. Users can select a chord and then see it on a keyboard. The app offers Major, Seventh, Minor, Augmented and Diminished notation. There’s also a soundboard that will play the chord with one touch.

Piano Chord Helper offers twelve different chords and seems like a great resource. As someone completely unfamiliar with the cords and the notations I found the dots on the keyboard to be particularly helpful. Without that aid I would have had no idea what notes to play! I’m glad the developers chose to include the interactive keyboard. I think that feature helps move the app beyond a resource and makes it educational as well.
