The Planet Read! HD app is a great app for early readers! With Planet Read! HD, children can learn how to read effectively without memorizing, but instead building fundamental skills! The app utilizes a phonics-based approach to teach children short, long and diphthong vowel sounds with over 54 short stories. I really like how kids can learn to read at their own pace and through sounding words out, instead of just memorizing what words look like.
The goal of Planet Read! HD is to help children develop their reading foundation and make them proficient readers in a time-effective manner. This app is geared towards children ages 4 and up. The app includes 54 mini-lessons, as well as games. Beginning students can learn how to read and spell at a proficient level. While, mature students can improve upon their existing reading and spelling skills to gain more proficiency.
The app teaches children through professionally written stories, including audio and high-quality images. Students will learn through hearing, touching and reading the words on the screen, as they learn the relationship between written and spoken language. There are over 2500 decodable English words, as well as over 100 common English sight words included in the app. I should mention, there is an in-app purchase, but inexpensive at $0.99 and well worth it!
I really enjoyed the Planet Read! HD app. I recommend this app to the parents of early readers, both those just beginning and those looking to become better readers. I will definitely be reading with my 4 year old son, as he is the perfect age for this sort of app!
