If you are looking for a fun and very unique storybook app for your children – you should definitely check out Rita The Lizard! I really enjoyed this app and thought it was one of the best storybook apps I have read in a while. This app is intended for all ages (though younger children may need help) and is a great read for any family.
One of my favorite features of this app is the beautiful artwork. In the 14 illustrated pages, the bright colors really pop and create a fun atmosphere for the story. This story tells the tale of Rita, a tiny lizard who thinks she is a chameleon just like her Uncle William…you will have to read to see what Rita discovers on her journey.
This app features over 250 interactive elements and is full of fun animations as well. I really liked how on each page kids are supposed to find all the hidden secrets. In each scene, children are given a “secret counter” that shows them how many secrets are in the scene and how many still remain to be discovered…find them all and win your prize!
Along the journey, Rita The Lizard will teach children a lesson about friendship and identity – all presented in a cute rhyming story fashion. There are two different reading modes provided: “Read To Me” – children can enjoy narration (English, Spanish, or Chinese) and play with interactive elements, or “I Read and Play” – children can read on their own and play with all the interactive elements. Children can interact by touching objects, dragging objects, and even rotating the screen. Also, for kids who want to show their creativity, there is a “record your voice” option where they can be their own narrator!
I really enjoyed Rita the Lizard and the cute story about friendship. I thought that the artwork was amazing and the “secret counter” on each page was a blast! I will definitely be reading Rita The Lizard with my son and would highly recommend it to parents!
