Ever want to start journalling but you aren’t sure how to get going? Or maybe you just have the ideas but can’t get your thoughts together at the end of the day? Well, Roller Journal is a new app that puts a modern spin on traditional journal-keeping and helps you get your thoughts rolling. The basis of Roller Journal is “question and answer” journalling. Roller Journal will ask you a series of questions (that you help decide) and will help you record your best memories or even little details you want to remember about each day.
To get started, you will go to the Question Settings tab and select the questions that you want to be asked more frequently. There are a long list of pre-populated questions which you will assign to three different categories: Always Ask Me, Never Ask Me, or Ask Me Randomly. The questions are phrased simply, such as “What was the best thing of your day?” or ” Who did you see today?”. I like that you are able to set a 4-digit passcode to keep your journal private. Another neat feature is the ability to set a reminder – for instance, my iPad is set to remind me daily at 8:15 pm to do my journalling for the day. One of the best features is the ability to backup your journal to Dropbox (another app) – always nice to have another copy backed up somewhere.
I think that Roller Journal is a really great concept. I have actually completed three days of journalling in the past week – which for me is really good. I think that keeping a journal is a good habit to have and a great way to remember all those little moments and memories that are special to you. I encourage anyone who keeps a journal or who is looking to start a journal to check out Roller Journal!
*Update 6/11/12 – Roller Journal is now universal and will work on your iPad!
