What is a five-letter word that means spelling fun? S-U-S-H-I. “Sushi?” you may ask. Well, Sushi Scramble that is. It is another FANTASTIC learning app from by Fingerprint Network! Sushi Scramble is a fun, fast-paced and fabulous way to practice spelling with your kids and brush up on your own spelling skills while you’re at it.
This game comes with two options: a 2-player collaborative game and a 2 – 4 player competitive game. If you are playing the collaborative mode, you and your partner work together to try and complete specific objectives, such as “Spell a 4 letter word that starts with D”. Letters circle around on a sushi-restaurant style conveyor belt and you drag the letters you want to your plate to spell the words. The game is timed and the more objectives you complete, the higher your score and you can move up to the next level.
The competitive game is like Scrabble meets sushi bar. Up to 4 players can play, one on each side of the iPad. In this mode, you are competing against the other players to create any word you can from the letters that are circling in the middle of the screen. Each letter or letter combination is worth a certain number of points and when you create a legitimate word the points are added together to increase your score. Each round is timed and whichever player has the most points at the end of the round wins!
Our family loves this app! We played several rounds together and I had to pry my daughter’s fingers off of the iPad to turn it off. In what seems to be a trend with the Fingerprint Network games, you will have so much fun it will not even seem like you are practicing spelling! I even challenged my husband to a few rounds after the kids went to bed. Once again, outstanding app Fingerprint Network! You have a huge fan in me!
