When I was a little girl my mother would say, “Now don’t throw yourself into a Tizzy” when she saw a tantrum coming on. So for a brief second I thought this might be a save-my-sanity app for parents navigating the Terrible Two’s. Turns out it is a beautifully illustrated, animated app introducing children to the seasons of the year. They’ll join the adventure with either bright-eyed Tizzy or her friend.
From the home page you can select any of the four seasons. The weather is clearly depicted in the landscape where you watch the changing of the leaves on the trees and the vegetables growing in the garden.
My favorite activities were: feeding the birds in the spring and listening to their individual calls; hopping the frogs onto their lily pads in the summer; picking apples in the fall, where harvesters will have to sort the apples by size; and dressing for play in the snow, making sure to put the socks on before the shoes.
I have just a couple suggestions for the developer. Adding a brief introduction to the activities would be perfect. From the skills represented in the graphics and interactivity of this app, I’m sure adding just a brief comment from Tizzy to “Blow and pop the bubbles.” or “Feed the Ducks” would be a snap for the folks at Tizzy Labs. This incorporation would be particularly helpful for 2-3 year-olds. Adding some clickable activities after completing a level would put the game over the top.
That being said, I was so impressed with this app. There are over 20 well planned and enjoyable activities to do. Each Season was well represented, giving the child a clear idea of what they can expect throughout the year. Whatever the season, Tizzy will engage your child and bring them a year of fun activities.
