Need a little help fighting the impulse to buy that soda or that pair of shoes (for those shoe fanatics) or that new CD? Urge is an app that is designed to help you save money by fighting the urge to make impulse transactions or picking up items at the store that you do not really need. I know personally I am really bad about always buying a soda when I am in the checkout line…and I love buying new music. And, I know that I am not alone in this behavior 🙂
Urge will help you keep track of all the money that you have saved by not purchasing things on a whim. You simply open Urge and enter the amount you just saved by not buying whatever it was- a soda, a pair of shoes, a CD, could be anything really – and then watch your amount keep banking. As you keep saving by not spending, Urge will continue to “bank” the amount you have saved. Speaking of which, you are able to make an in-app purchase for $1.99 where you can actually transfer funds from your checking account to your savings account based on the amount that you feel comfortable that you have saved periodically. For example, if you used to buy a $2 soda every day at the gas station and then you give up that purchase, you can bank the $2 in Urge everyday and then transfer $60 from your checking account to your savings account each month based on that logic…I just realized how much I could be saving…
I found the premise of this app very interesting. I think that we could all probably find a way to save on a few things each month and using Urge would be an easy way to keep track of our savings. If you are looking to save some money, I recommend checking out Urge.
