This storybook app features a humorous and fun story that is geared towards children 2 through 6 years old. The app contains 16 interactive pages with 3D illustrations, as well as 5 original and unique, educational games. The educational games included are as follows: 1) a “grouping” game where kids will group candy according to shape, 2) a “Simon” style game where kids will make a spaceship take off by reproducing musical notes in the proper sequence, 3) a game where children will catch paper airplanes as they fly by and place them in a wastebasket, 4) a “sorting” game where kids will sort various objects according to color (green vs. red, of course), and 5) a game where kids will guide a spaceship through outer space while trying to avoid obstacles. I really enjoyed all the games and liked the variety of styles of games available – sorting, grouping, etc. All of the games complement the story very well, and can be played while reading the story (within the story) or by themselves (game mode). The app also features the option to listen to narration in either English or French, as well as an original music score.
I really enjoyed the Zoe’s Green Planet interactive storybook app. I thought that the story had a great message – a little variety is good, life would be boring if we were all the same. I would definitely encourage parents to check out Zoe’s Green Planet if they are looking for a new story to read with their kids! I know I will be sharing this story with my son.
